A Good Morning Prayer for Mom (Start Your Day Right!)

As we busy moms head into our days, we can feel overwhelmed with all we need to do. Today I want to remind you of the importance of morning prayers, even if it is just a short prayer. We need God’s help to get us through our days.

God wants to hear our deepest needs and desires, just like we like to hear our toddler’s stories, even if we know what they are talking about! We don’t need perfect wording. Just simply talk to Jesus like you would to anyone else, that is one of the best ways to pray. May God help us to keep our priorities straight.

Too Busy to Pray

I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day!
I had so much to accomplish that I didn’t take time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me, and heavier came each task.
“Why doesn’t God help me?” I wondered, He answered, “You didn’t ask!”

I tried to come into God’s presence; I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided, “Why, child, you didn’t knock!”

I wanted to see joy and beauty, but the day toiled on, gray and bleak.
I wondered why God didn’t show me. He answered me, “But you didn’t seek.”

I woke up early this morning, and paused before entering the day.
I had so much to accomplish, that I had to take time to pray.—Author Unknown*

This poem has often reminded me to pause for a moment before rushing into the day. As busy moms, we probably can’t take several hours to meet God in the mornings, at least not in most seasons of motherhood. But perhaps we need God’s help even more than if we had extra time.

Don’t be too busy to pray. Start your day with a short prayer at least. If you have time to pray awhile, here are some simple prayers for different things you can pray for. Feel free to use your own words too!

Good Morning Prayers

Thank God

Dear God, Thank You for the night of rest and for this brand new beautiful day. Thank You for Your unconditional love and life in Jesus. You have given me so many blessings. Open my eyes to see them today.

Pray for Your Day

Help me to have a blessed day. I don’t want to define my day by how things turn out, but by how well I follow Your plan for me today. Even so, bless my day, and help me to accomplish all I need to do today.

Bless my daily activities and duties as a busy mom. I have so much to do today that I need Your help.

Pray for Your Heart

Give me the joy of the Lord, so I can face even the trials with a smile. Help me to have a kind heart for my family and anyone You send my way today. Put my focus on the most important things in life. I need the peace of God in my heart for the times things get stressful. May I allow Your Holy Spirit to direct me in all I do.

Pray for Your Family Members

Bless my family today. Be with my husband as he works to provide for us. Help me to be the wife I need to be.

Help me to also be the best mother I can be for my children today. Bless them with sweet hearts and attitudes today. May they grow up to love and serve You always.

Pray for Health

Bless us all with good health and a long life, according to Your will. May we use our time on earth to show Your love to others.

If You allow us to go through health struggles, teach us the lessons You want us to learn. We want to patiently go through times of poor health too.

Pray for Other Moms

Bless other moms who are going through hard times. Give them Your joy and grace.  Help us all to see our children as the blessings they are.

Pray for God’s Grace in Difficult Times

I need Your grace for the trials I will face today. Help me to trust You even in the hard times when I have a heavy heart. I can’t do this without You. Please hold my hand.

Pray for Your Heart’s Desires

You see the desires of my heart, my hopes and dreams. I pray they will be fulfilled, according to Your will. Most of all, I want what You want for me.

Simple Morning Prayer

Dear Lord,

On this new day, I need You. Thank You first of all for the night of rest, even though it was interrupted by the needs of my little ones. Bless me with strength for my duties. Thank You for your mercies that are new every morning. Help me to be the mom and wife You want me to be today. Help me to be cheerful, loving, and patient. May my life bless others today, simply because they see Jesus in me. I want to hear You speak to me today. Open my eyes and ears to the little messages from You throughout the day. Help me to make God’s Word a priority. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Save it for later.

Let’s be Praying Moms

I pray that if you are struggling with learning how to pray, even as a busy mom, these simple prayers can be stepping stones to guide you to learn to pray on your own. Start your day by connecting with God, so you can find strength for the overwhelming parts of motherhood, and even the times you are struggling with being an angry mom. Pray for your children and your husband. Just speak to God what is on your heart. He gave you this job, and He will be there for you.

You can also bless others by letting them know you are praying for them and showing them God’s love in you if you have a little time to spare. Maybe send them a simple good morning prayer message. Wish them a blessed morning and a good day. Let them know you are praying for them and you want them to have a day full of the blessings of the Lord. There are many other women and moms who could use some encouragement. (e.i. your own dear mom, a best friend, a single mother.) Think of someone else you can bless today, and that will help you see your blessings more clearly too.

God meets us busy moms right where we are, over dirty dishes and diapers. We don’t need to always have a long dedicated time to seek His face. Check out a few encouraging Bible verses for moms, and meditate on them as you work.

Count God’s blessings each new morning. That is one of the best choices you can make, and it’s a great way to start your busy, often overwhelming days.
