The Best, Free, Complete, Printable Homeschool Planner for Moms

If you are a homeschool mom looking for a free printable homeschool planner, I want to show you my favorite one. It’s so simple and easy to use, and you don’t need to have extra pages if you don’t want them.

As a homeschooling mother myself, I needed a planner that was simple, practical, and affordable. Among all the different types of homeschool planners, I couldn’t find what I needed for my school year here in Costa Rica, so I created my own simple homeschool planner. Now I am sharing it with you as well, for free!

Best of all, I like that I can have something similar for all my years of homeschooling, to keep track of my homeschool journey with its ups and downs.

More About This Free Homeschool Teacher Planner

For Up to Five Students

This simple homeschool planner is designed for the unique needs of a homeschool mom and likely would not work for a classroom teacher.  It includes space for up to 5 students, so it should work for most moms, but there may be a few who have more than five children doing homeschool lessons at the same time. In that case, you could include two children per section, or have a separate system or personal planner for your older students.

Just for Homeschooling

This is a simple homeschool planner, so it is also just for homeschooling and does not include extras like pages for meal plans or a shopping list. I like to keep my school stuff separate from my home stuff, even though I know they mix a lot.

Printable Planner

This planner is a printable planner that you will receive as a digital download. Another reason why this is a great planner is that you just download it once and then have it for all your homeschooling years.

I know I could have a digital planner, but I like my paper planners, and if you are here, you probably do too. It needs to be printed and bound (or put in a three-ring binder), but you can pick and choose which pages you want.

I print and bind mine here in town for a very reasonable price, so you might need to see if you have those options near you.

Dateless

This is an undated planner so that you can use it with whatever school year you use, even year-round. When I was looking for a planner, so many of them started in September or so, and in Costa Rica, our school year runs from February to November, so I made it dateless so anyone can use it.

Page Options

Different Covers

I have added several different cover options so that you can choose the one you like best. If you want a different cover than you had last year, you can always change it out or add one you made yourself. Next year, you can do something different yet.

For my own back cover, I chose to print out a calendar of the year to have it easily available.

Weekly Pages

The weekly planning pages are the bulk of the homeschool lesson planner. Here you would fill in your lesson plans for every day. At this stage in my homeschooling journey, I do more of a form of reverse planning, where I write down what we have already done instead of what we will do. That is because we often don’t manage all I wish we could in a day in this stage of homeschooling with little ones around.

I write out each week’s goals in pencil till I can be sure we are able to do them, before solidifying the plan, and I add in extras as we manage them.

You can fill in the entire year if you wish. Each day has six spaces for you or your child’s to-do list, whether that be academic lessons or extra activities. There is also plenty of space for notes if you want to write down more about the week. While it comes pre-designed for 36 weeks, you can add or take away as many lesson planning pages as you need for your school year.

Each homeschool day is a vertical row of boxes.

Special Extra Pages

I have included a number of pages for extra record keeping, but you just choose the ones that are the best option for your family, and leave the rest.

Field Trips and Family Read Alouds

Keep track of your field trips and read-alouds with the pages provided; this is especially nice for looking back on in the future.

Year-at-a-Glance

The planner includes a two-page spread of a full-year calendar. This makes it easy to see the full year at a glance, so you can use it for writing down special dates, attendance records, or whatever you wish.

Monthly Calendars

These pages are also dateless, but you can fill them in and use them as monthly overview pages. I chose to skip those in my planner as I don’t need them, but I did make the monthly planner pages available for you. Just print them out and stick them in where needed.

Student Records

I include several pages that are simply for records for each of your students. While I bound mine directly with my planner, at the end of the year, I will probably tear them out and put them in their portfolios. These pages include an attendance tracker, grades sheet, new chores and skills learned, and books read. Use the ones you want and skip the rest.

Buy for Next Year

Another page I appreciate is the one for writing down what I need to buy for next year. As I go through my school days, I sometimes think of something I will need, and I like to be able to write it down so I don’t forget. At the end of the year it makes it simple to know if I have all I need for the coming homeschool year.

Notes, Daily Schedule, Expense Tracker, and More

There are optional pages for writing down notes and ideas, your daily schedule, expense tracking for your homeschool, and other pages that you will want to check out! I have also included some chore charts separately in case you want them.

Usage and Printing Instructions

When you sign up for the planner, you get all the downloads in an email. Print off the ones you need and skip the rest. Then save the file so you can keep using it year after year, at no extra cost!

You can also just print it and use three-ring binders like these for your planner, or get it ring-bound if you have that option.

Keep in mind that since the weekly pages are a two-page spread, you always want to add or take away an even number of pages (like two at a time, at least of the first pages), so it doesn’t mess up the order when printing out the planner. If you only want to add one page at the beginning of the planner, I suggest you also add a blank page to keep the order correct. (This is for double-sided printing.)

This planner was designed to be printed on regular white 8.5×11-inch paper.

  1. I love that the planner is undated. I’m from Europe and each country here has its own policy about when school starts/ends, and not many planners are adapted for that. Thank you!🙏🏻
